ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) –The producers of a new reality show think Orlando is one of the best places in the country to find talented business owners.

Entrepreneurs get ‘Shark Tank’-style treatment in Orlando

Greg Devlin’s Thursday did not exactly start off on the right foot.
The military veteran’s van broke down on his way to downtown Orlando, where he would pitch his educational comic books to a television crew for an upcoming entrepreneurs show.
However, once he arrived at the coworking space Canvs, Devlin said the fact that his pitch has become almost automatic helped improve the day.

$tartup Hour producer Jonathan Block chose Orlando as one of eight cities nationally after an impromptu meeting with local 1 Million Cups Orlando co-founder Ron Ben Zeev at the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City.

The new business-themed reality TV show The Startup Hour is coming to town March 31, offering inventors, upstarts, dreamers and other would-be moguls up to four minutes for a startup pitch for possible inclusion on the air.
Like the hit ABC startup show Shark Tank, entrepreneurs on The Startup Hour can deliver their ideas to a panel of prospective investors for funding, technological support, and other awards. But in a twist, The Startup Hour is the first television show to allow viewers to invest and fund startup concepts as well through crowdfunding.

Reality TV Show “The Startup Hour” Coming to Sacramento

The Startup Hour, a reality TV show, is coming to Sacramento!  The Startup Hour can be best described as a combination of Shark Tank and American Idol. Sacramento was one of six cities chosen to be featured in Season One. Other cities include Orlando, Boston, Austin, Pittsburg, Kansas City, and San Francisco. The show will be televised in 6 TV markets under an agreement with Hearst Television and various streaming video channels. What makes the show unique is that the audience will be able to provide funding to startups they like through a patented crowdfunding process. The Startup Hour is the brain child of executive producer Jonathan Block.

‘Startup Hour’ TV Show to Look for Subjects in KC

The Startup Hour,” a new TV show devoted to young business ventures, is going to be shooting in Kansas City next week.
The creators are looking for entrepreneurs to include in the first season of the reality-style show, which will be produced in San Francisco. The show will be visiting Boston, Pittsburgh, New York and several other cities this month to look at startups.
The Kansas City stop will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 17 at the Innovation Café, a local co-working space. It’s not too late to sign up through the show’s website to deliver a pitch that day. And if time permits, the producers will record “walk-ins” on a first-come, first-served basis.
They’ll also continue to take applications via the website after the 17th.
Unlike “Shark Tank,” viewers will be able to invest in the featured companies, if they are accredited investors who have registered with “The Startup Hour.” The show has set up a system where investments can be made via smartphone.
“The Startup Hour” will air 11 episodes during its first season, which will debut at 9 p.m. May 13 on Me TV, Channel 9.2. Kansas City is one of a handful of cities where the show will be broadcast; it will also be available online.

The first season will feature 11 weekly televised episodes in 6 debut television markets: Orlando, Boston, Pittsburgh, Sacramento, Austin and Kansas City and will simultaneously stream worldwide to mobile and web-enabled devices.
The importance of entrepreneurship is highlighted on the show as viewers finally have an opportunity to jump in and take action, which includes funding or directly investing in the companies they love.
Register Here for your chance to be on this show.  You should upload a video in advance of the event.  If you are unable to do this, you can still go to the event and they will record you pitching, but it will be a first come, first serve basis, so you may not be able to pitch, depending on how many people go to the event.

All of the ABC Shark Tank Sharks have had plenty of experience in venture capital and understand the fundamentals between wins and losses, but to be part of such an epic win on Friday night television wasn’t in the cards, at first. New equity crowdfunding reality TV show to feature Orlando startups

The Startup Hour— a new business-themed reality program that lets TV viewers watch entrepreneurs pitch their ideas — will be in Orlando on March 26 to film startup pitches at Canvs, the co-working space at The Church Street Exchange building in downtown.
Canvs is home to more than 45 companies.
